The Early Intervention Service Coordination Unit is the first place to contact for information. Hospitals, physicians, specialists, or caregivers may refer families, and families may contact the program themselves. All services for eligible children are provided at no charge to the family.
To get started, staff take basic information about the child (name, address, phone number, date of birth) and the developmental concerns or reason for referral. Next, a Service Coordinator is assigned to contact the family and schedule a home visit to get more information and explain the Early Intervention screening process. The Service Coordinator and family discuss who best to assess the child, and the Service Coordinator schedules a developmental evaluation with a multi-disciplinary team. The Service Coordinator guides the family through the screening process and helps to arrange services if the child is eligible.
