Hibernia Hiking Club: About Us

In the summer of 2007, Park Ranger Deborah Barrett conceived the idea for a hiking club, and the hikes began that year. Walks were 1st offered only on Wednesday mornings. The concept became so popular that it expanded to Saturday mornings.

Club members have learned that walking alone is still great exercise, but walking with a group greatly enhances the experience. "Walking the beautiful Hatfield Trail with new-found friends is a great way to start the day," stated member Lisa Marie. The exercise aspect has resulted in expanding the hikes to other locations such as Struble Trail.

The socialization aspect has broadened their horizons to include "Field Trips", which usually include a food and fellowship time. The club hosts regular events and also takes field trips several times each year. Members are friendly and always welcome new recruits.

The group hikes every Wednesday and Saturday morning, 9-10 AM, on a flat gravel path that is an old railroad bed. Everyone walks at their own pace, but you will never walk alone. Someone will happily walk alongside you, encouraging you every step. Please join us. See our Schedule of Events for upcoming hikes and activities.
