Farmland Leasing and Land Opportunities, September 22nd

This workshop will help farmers better understand the leasing options available to help make their farm successful.

Mr. Sean High from Penn State’s Agriculture & Shale Law Center will give a legal perspective of farm leasing. A farmer panel will give their experiences leasing farmland & answer questions, Ms. Hillary Krummrich, Director of Agricultural Development for Chester County will update us on the findings of the Landscapes3 Initiative. Mr. Patrick Gardner with Natural Lands will discuss leasing opportunities through land trusts.

Southern Chester County Municipal Farm Tour, October 3rd

9:00-11:00 a.m.

This tour, designed for municipal officials, will visit Laurel Valley Farms, a composting operation that prepares custom blend compost for customers including the mushroom industry; and Va La Vineyards, a nationally recognized winery and tasting room, featuring unique wines produced from grapes grown entirely on site. Attendees will also hear from staff from the Open Space Department, Conservation District and the County Planning Commission, who can provide assistance to municipalities on agricultural issues.
