EMS Agency Licensure / Inspections

Any agency wishing to provide Emergency Medical Services in Pennsylvania must be licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health-Bureau of EMS. The Field Services Division processes applications and performs the required inspections which focus on requirements related to the agency, vehicle, equipment, supply and staff.

An EMS agency license is valid for three years and must be renewed prior to the three year expiration unless there are significant operational changes in the interim that warrant an amendment.

The current EMS agency licensure levels include:
  • Quick Response Service

  • Basic Life Support Squad
  • Intermediate Advanced Life Support Ambulance
  • Intermediate Advanced Life Support Squad
