Bridge 196 Tyson's Bridge

Bridge #196 to be closed September, 2019

Chester County Bridge #196, Tyson’s Bridge, carrying Bertolet School Road over French Creek in East and West Vincent Townships is a Riveted Steel Warren Pony Truss originally constructed in 1905. The bridge is currently weight restricted at eight tons and requires immediate repair of the steel floor system to continue to deliver its level of service.

As such, the County bridge crew is scheduled to repair the bridge in September. To facilitate the work, the bridge will be closed to traffic daily from 9 AM to 2 PM daily beginning September 9th for approximately six weeks.  During the repair, small portions of the approach roadway and bridge surface will be removed to access the deteriorated steel floor system. These areas will be covered with temporary steel plates each afternoon to allow for traffic use.
